In 2017 549,128 tourists visited specially protected natural areas, which was 11,5% more than 492,244 in 2016. Nature Protection Minister Artsvik Minasyan stated this at a meeting with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, RA Government Information and Public Relations Department reports.

The revenues from tourism visits totaled 226.7 million drams, which was 26.3% higher than the figure of 179.4 million drams in 2016.

It was also mentioned at the meeting that in the framework of international cooperation in the field of environmental protection in 2017 more than $ 20 million grant contracts were signed with the Green Climate Fund.

Negotiations are under way with German Development Bank KfW for € 21.7 million Biodiversity and Forestry Support Grant and $ 28 million FAO Grant.
