RA Minister of Finance Vardan Aramyan stated during the seminar for media representatives, answering the question on the possibility of increasing the pensions next year. "We consider the issue of increasing pensions and social spending every year, but I have to be convinced that the economic growth is stable, not accidental. Along with economic growth, unemployment should go down when it happens, then I can think about raising pensions. The economic growth depends on the productivity rise, but we cannot do it if we do not provide capital expenditures, the development of the labor force potential, "said Vardan Aramyan, adding that they should only rely on their own potential.

Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan presented the results of the work done in 2017 and macroeconomic indicators, noting that compared with expectations, a considerable growth was achieved, taking into account the 7.7% economic activity index. "In 2017, the economic growth will be around 6.7 percent, and the GDP deflator will grow by 1.5 percent. The GDP per capita will be about $ 3,799.8 "he said. Touching upon the current account deficit, Armen Hayrapetyan mentioned that according to the data of 2017 it will make about 4%, approaching its long-term balance. "The current account deficit is the transactions of our residents with non-residents, which includes export, receipts and transfers, import and export of services. If this indicator (-4) is with a negative sign it means that we depend on the outside world, "said Hayrapetyan.

In 2017, the export growth will be about 23.5%, while imports will grow by about 28%, according to the Ministry of Finance. According to the results of the year, the growth of money transfers is estimated at 13.4 %.
