VTB and Rostech subsidiary have filed a joint bid for buying Indian Essar Steel which is on the verge of bankruptcy, Bloomberg reported.

The Russian bank will participate in the auction, where Essar Steel will be sold through Numetal Mauritius.

"Numetal has filed an application for buying Essar Steel," said Numetal's representative to RBC.

The interlocutor did not specify how much the company is ready to pay for Essar Steel's purchase.

VTB representative refused to comment on the news.
