The package of legislative amendments in the field of budget and social expertise (ITU) will be submitted to the Government next month.

According to Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Smbat Saiyan, on January 1, 2018 the number of disabled people in Armenia amounted to 193,302 people, of which 8231 are children.

Compared to January 2017, this index has dropped by about 13,000 people, which is conditioned by last year's events aimed at clarifying the work. For those who have not been recognized as disabled in the result of double-medical expertise, a new program has been tested in 2017 as a result of which about 220 citizens have received an opportunity to get treatment under the state order.

Presently, as Saiyan noted, Armenia is actively making reforms on disability recognition, through medical and social expertise.

Within the framework of the Prime Minister's instruction, the department has prepared a package of proposals which should lead to the increase of the efficiency of the system. In this context, draft legislation acts will be forwarded to the government in the near future.

According to Saidyan, the main logic of legislative initiatives is to define the responsibilities of health and social security systems. In this context, considerable improvements in the service of citizens are envisaged. At this stage, the process is carried out in accordance with established procedure in territorial ambulatory establishments.
