Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan arrived in Lebanon on a two-day official visit. After the official welcoming ceremony at the Beirut International Airport, the delegation led by Prime Minister Karapetyan left for Lebanese government residence, where RA Prime Minister met Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

The tete-a-tete meeting of the Armenian and Lebanese Prime Ministers was followed by the expanded meeting of the governmental delegations of the two countries.

Karen Karapetyan thanked for the invitation to visit Lebanon and warm reception. Referring to the possibilities of developing bilateral economic relations, Prime Minister Karapetyan said: "Lebanese companies can use our platform to access the broader markets, taking into account our membership to EEU, the free economic zone on the border with Iran and the GSP + trade regime with the EU. In general, it is a good time to come to Armenia and make investments in our country, "the Prime Minister said and also presented the Government's steps to improve the business environment in Armenia. The prime minister has also offered to consider the possibility of establishing joint ventures in light industry, jewelry, pharmaceutics and agriculture.

Underlining the importance of developing relations with Armenia, Saad Hariri noted that Lebanon is also a good place to invest, particularly in the context of infrastructures, including public-private partnership.

Armenian and Lebanese Prime Ministers discussed current cooperation in agriculture, information technologies, tourism and culture and expressed willingness to work jointly to expand and deepen it. Karen Karapetyan also suggested studying the idea of ​​setting up an Armenian-Lebanese investment fund to finance joint projects and noted that the Armenian side is ready to share its experience in solar energy.

The Prime Minister invited his Lebanese counterpart to visit Armenia, noting that within the framework of the visit the Armenian-Lebanese intergovernmental commission can also meet to discuss the above mentioned issues and to outline new directions of cooperation. The head of the government also underlined the important role of the Lebanese Armenian community in the deepening of bilateral relations.

At the end of the meeting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan made a note in the "Golden Book" of Honorary Guests.
