
Armenian producers are interested in being introduced in the new market and are planning to export to the US in the near future, in particular, meat products, honey, dairy products, fresh and dried fruit and drinks. In order to ensure smooth export and import and provide information to the businessmen, State Food Security Service head Ishkhan Karapetyan has negotiated with his American counterparts on sanitary and phytosanitary measures, discussed food import and export procedures.
Karapetyan left for the United States to attend the second session of the Armenia-US Trade and Investment Council.
Particularly, the sides touched upon the circulation of veterinary and phytosanitary accompanying documents, taking into account the EEU and EU regulations. Importance of information exchange between partner organizations was highlighted.
The head of the service also presented the State Food Security Service control areas and mechanisms, and the current programs aimed at improving the safety and quality of the animal and vegetable origin, which will make the Armenian food production more competitive.
