Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Artak Shaboyan visited Syunik region, where he met with dozens of businessmen in the region to get acquainted with the field related issues and their suggestions and programs.

Nearly three dozen businessmen are engaged in the production of dairy products, confectionery, bakery products, processing of agricultural products, as well as in mining and other spheres.

The director of the dairy production company "Elola" informed the SCPEC President that there are dairy products made of powdered milk in the market, which is not mentioned in the content, so the companies that produce their products from fresh milk appear in unequal conditions. The consumer does not know which product is made from fresh milk and which one from powdered milk.

In connection with the issue raised by the businessman, Artak Shaboyan assured that the Commission will start the investigation immediately, as the improper labeling by the manufacturer could result in an unfair competition, which is unacceptable.

Syunik region businessmen also raised issues related to the retail trade, poultry production and import.

The poultry producers in the region complained that the poultry imported from other countries often lacked proper labeling when it was produced and in which country, the consumer might think it was produced in Armenia.

Artak Shaboyan mentioned that some of the issues raised, even though they are not directly in the Commission's regulatory field, can indirectly affect the competition field, so all issues raised will be studied by the Commission in the shortest possible time and all the issues that are under the purview of the Competitive Body of the Republic of Armenia will find a solution.
