If the prime minister is unable to fulfill his/her obligations, he is replaced by the first deputy prime minister. On April 23, an extraordinary session of the Armenian government was held, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
"In an extraordinary session, according to Article 7 (14) of the RA Law" On the Structure and Functioning of the Government, "and based on Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan's statement, it was proved impossible by the Prime Minister to exercise his powers.
According to Paragraph 5 of the Annex to the Decree N 412-L of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia of April 21, 2018, "In the case of the absence of the Prime Minister or his/her inability to fulfill his/her powers, the prime minister is replaced by the First Deputy Prime Minister".
