Starting June 1, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will be shut down for repair purposes.

"It is not accidental, as we attach importance to the role and significance of the nuclear power plant for the country's economy," said newly appointed Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Arthur Grigoryan.

In his words, he has got acquainted with the current and preparatory works, which will start very soon. On June 1 the reactor of the station will be shut down and large-scale repairs will be launched, which will be mainly carried out by the Russian side. "All necessary equipment that is subject to replacement is already supplied, and there is no problem in this regard," Artur Grigoryan said.

He added that as a result of modernization, the life of the second reactor will be extended by 10 years till 2027.
