The World Bank has improved the forecast for Armenia's GDP growth in 2018, setting it up to 4.1% instead of the previous 3.8%. According to the World Bank's Europe and Central Asia Economic Outlook report, Armenia's GDP growth forecast for 2019 has not changed, making 4%.
According to the World Bank report, growth in Armenian agriculture will be 2.5% in 2018 and 2.7% in 2019. The industrial sector is projected to grow by 5.4% and 5.2% in 2019. The growth in services will make up 3.9%, and in 2019 - 3.8%.
Growth in private consumption, according to the updated report, will make 5% in 2018 and 4.7% in 2019. Gross investment in the capital will increase by 4.5%, in 2019 - 4.2%. The export and import growth is almost the same in 2018, making 10.1% and 10.3% respectively, and in 2019 - 9.8% and 9.5% respectively.
In the Armenian consumer market, according to the new forecast, inflation will be 3.5% in 2018, and in 2019 - 3.8%.
The share of direct foreign investment (FDI) in GDP will make 4.4%, in 2019 - 4.5%, and the current account deficit and GDP ratio will increase from 2.9% to 3.5% in 2018-2019. The state budget deficit will drop from 2.6% in 2018 to 2.5% in 2019. The share of state debt in GDP is expected to be 58.6%, and in 2019 - 58.3%. The poverty rate (in terms of parity purchasing power of $ 5.5) may reach 38.2 % in 2018 and 36.8 % in 2019, and the poverty rate in terms of parity purchasing power of $ 3.2 may fall from 10.1% in 201 to 9.1% in 2019.
