RA Minister of Agriculture Artur Khachatryan convened a consultation with RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan, President of the Union of canned food and juice producers of Armenia Yervand Tarverdyan, President of the Association of Dried food Producers NGO Sandro Abovyan, about 30 fruit and vegetable processing companies.

Representatives of processing companies positively assessed the program of subsidizing interest rates for agro-processing sector launched last year, simultaneously put forward the issue of simplification of procedures.

The participants of the meeting emphasized a number of issues related to tax legislation, particularly regarding the documentation requirements during raw material purchase.

The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia urged the editors to submit a written proposal to the Ministry with clear grounds, which will be discussed with the interested departments, the Ministry of Finance and the State Revenue Committee and, if necessary, a separate meeting will be held with participation of all sides.

Increasing the production of seeds of local varieties of vegetables, raising the level of competition, as well as other issues relating to lending were discussed. There was also a proposal to create an agricultural portal, which will serve as a platform for information exchange for farmers and processors, promoting more productive and targeted harvesting.
