In 2017 a partial pilot subsidizing scheme for agro-processing loans has been implemented within the framework of which a portion of the loan (up to 9%) of the target loans with a maximum annual interest rate of up to 12% has been subsidized and the annual interest rate of the borrower's loan was 3% : Loans to be subsidized within the project have been targeted solely on the payment of the harvest value.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, 12 banks (ACBA Credit Agricole, Ameria, Ararat, Ardshin, Armswiss, Ineco, Converse, Armbusiness, ("Armeconomb", "Eva", "Byblos Bank Armenia", "VTB-Armenia Bank") and 3 credit organizations ("SME Investments in Armenia"), "Farm Credit Armenia", "CARD AgroCredit" ) have agreed to take part in the program.
In order to use the pilot program, in 2017 25 preliminary applications were submitted to the RA Ministry of Agriculture at about 2 billion drams, of which the banks approved the applications for crediting of 20 companies at the amount of 1341.0 million drams.
In 2018, the program is implemented on a broader scale. The loan portfolio of the project makes about 18.0 billion drams, and the maximum loan amount to each borrower is up to 1.0 billion drams.
As of June 19, 2018 13 companies have submitted preliminary applications to the RA Ministry of Agriculture at the total amount of AMD 3060.2 million for the use of the program, which have given positive conclusions.
As of May 31, 2018 commercial banks approved two applications at 489.0 million drams, while others are in the study phase.
