Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan visited on October 17 a charity exhibition titled "The Spirit of the Culture of Armenians fromSyria in Yerevan" organized at Northern Avenue. Nikol Pashinyan was accompanied by Acting Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
Pashinyan visited the pavilions during his tour, got acquainted with the works presented by Armenians from Syria and was interested in their activities.
Armenians from Syria were participating in the fair presented their handmade work. Visitors can get acquainted and buy handicrafts and jewelry made by more than 50 Armenians from Syria, delicate sweets and falafel with Oriental flavors.
In the course of a conversation with Nikol Pashinyan, Armenians from Syria asked for relief of tax burden, especially for start-up businesses.
"We are currently making amendments to the Tax Code. We plan to make sure that the micro business is completely exempt from taxes.
Trade turnover threshold has not yet been settled; it is in the stage of discussion but we consider the option of 20 million or 24 million drams. That is, if your business is within that boundaries, you are exempt from taxes. It is discussed which spheres will be included in that privilege, "said Nikol Pashinyan. He noted that business should also be fair, within the framework of the labor law as the experience shows that a businessman with a turnover of 250 million drams could split it into some parts to avoid taxes. Mechanisms for controlling these processes are now being discussed.
Charity exhibition-fair titled "The Spirit of the Culture of Armenians from Syria in Yerevan" was organized by the Ministry of Diaspora, "Armenian Caritas" Benevolent NGO, Armenia Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Center for Coordination of Issues of Armenians from Syria NGO and Yerevan Municipality. This time it is dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan.
