British Barclays is studying the real possibility of merging with Standard Chartered, which maily works in developing markets, or with other competitors.

Financial Times cites its sources, Barclays has developed a large-scale action plan in response to pressure from investor-activist Edward Bramson, who recently became the largest shareholder of the bank.

Besides Standard Chartered, the Bank is also considering the possibility of merging with Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Singapore DBS.
