37 major European banks have united efforts to launch a pilot project on energy efficient homes mortgage lending.

Among the participants are BNP Paribas, ING Bank, Nordea Bank and Societe Generale.

These banks will try to apply new criteria for mortgage lending to energy efficient homes.

The advantage will also be on spreading the standard flats to a "green" level.

It is noteworthy that banks consider this initiative as a way of reducing their own risk as a lender, as homeowners who pay little money for electricity, easier repay the mortgage.
