IMF brexit

Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, said that any UK exit scenario from the European Union would have a negative impact on the country's economy, TASS reports.

According to Lagarde, even the most favorable resolution of the situation will hit the British economy.

“Even the softest scenario [Brexit] will complicate the transaction process and make transportation less convenient,” Lagarde said.
She noted that the exit process creates a situation of uncertainty for the European economy too.

Earlier, the Bank of England expressed concern about the deteriorating situation with Brexit. According to the bank, the rejection of a preliminary agreement with Brussels "increased uncertainty" and may have negative consequences. However, the Bank of England does not yet raise the base interest rate for the UK, according to the Board’s decision, it will remain at 0.75%.
