The Bank of England introduced a new £ 10 banknote, which depicts writer Jane Austen. The issue of the banknote is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the author's death. The banknote with a portrait of Austin will be put into circulation on September 14, 2017.

This is the first banknote of the Bank of England, which has tactile characteristics (for the blind and visually impaired people). It is made of polymer material, has a high level of protection and will serve for a long time.

Earlier, a £ 5 banknote made of polymer material was issued with a portrait of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In 2020, it is planned to issue a banknote of 20 pounds sterling with a portrait of the artist Joseph Mellord William Turner.
