"We have a 30% increase in wine production, 61% for brandy and 35% for vodka," said Avag Harutyunyan, Head of the National Wine Center.

According to him, we have come out of the crisis in the semi-annual period.

"There has been a 1.5% increase in wine, a 7% increase in brandy and a 10% drop in vodka production compared to 2013. We have no total growth. We will not reach the indicators of 2013, we must grow by 50% ", said Avag Harutyunyan.

According to the head of the National Wine Center, the main problem is connected with the Russian market. "Ruble devaluation and economic sanctions. Russian authorities want full transition to Russian brandy and wine. Sanctions have forced these processes to accelerate. The brandy imported to Russian is being checked already. From the global point of view, Armenia is interested in two points: these sanctions should be either cancelled or they should be too harsh, because in that case we will look for other markets. We only export 1% of wine and brandy to USA ".
