
RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan today have summed up the results of the first half of 2017. GDP growth in the six months has made 5.9%. The industrial sector has grown by 7.7%, as well as trade and services sectors.
"The policy adopted by the Government in the field of economic development has been fully justified and our vision, which was presented a year ago, has been fulfilled," he said.
Suren Karayan said that in 2017, The economic activity index for the January-August period was 5.5%, with two-digit growth in the industry, trade and services sectors.
The minister noted that the main goal is to have exportable economy, and in January-August the growth of export of goods made 21.7%. Export of commodities in the mentioned period made $ 1383.2 million, having increased by 246.3 million USD (21.7%) over the same period last year. Exports to the CIS countries increased by 33.0%, EU countries by 32.6% and other countries by 11.0%.
Suren Karayan said that exports to the EEU have increased by 32.4% and to EU by 32.6%.
