Today, within the framework of the visit to Uzbekistan, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan met with the head of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.

At the meeting the Prime Minister noted that Armenia is interested in intensifying inter-state relations with Uzbekistan. According to Karen Karapetyan, the parties should intensify contacts at the level of business community, chambers of commerce and industry, specialized development agencies. In this context, the importance of establishing an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was highlighted.

The Prime Minister especially attached importance to the prospects of cooperation within the free economic zone created on the border with Iran.

The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the tourism sphere, in particular, touched upon issues of direct air communication between Yerevan and Tashkent, as well as opening of diplomatic missions.

Karen Karapetyan and Abdullah Aripov have agreed to give a new impetus to the bilateral relations that will lead to the activation of both political and economic ties between the two countries.
