Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said at today's government session that it is necessary to improve the process of granting construction permits and simplify the administration carried out in that area.

According to the Prime Minister, the "Doing Business 2018" report touched upon the issue of construction permits and some problems were recorded.

"The current situation has a negative impact on the development of the construction sector. Under the legislation, these permits are granted by local self-governing bodies, but the normative mechanisms for their provision should be clear, predictable, and the decisions taken - strictly justified. At the same time, according to the current legislation, the authorized body does not have reasonable control functions, "said Karen Karapetyan.

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Development was assigned to the Mayor of the State Committee for Urban Development and proposed to Yerevan Mayor until December 2 to elaborate proposals to simplify, clarify, introduce effective electronic instruments, as well as set up reasonable control mechanisms for the construction permits and present them to the Government Staff.
