The Armenian dram today is 24 years old. On November 22, Armenian second and longest national currency entered into circulation. The first was in 1918, but did not last long. Until this day of 1993 Armenia was accepting the Russian exchange rate without changing it, which did not correspond to the exchange rate of the market. The difference was about 20%. Inflation rates were unprecedented in Armenia. Dram was recognized as a legal payment instrument 5 months after the investment, on March 1, 1994. Today, banknotes with nominal value of 1000, 5000, 10 000, 20 000 and 50 000 thousand are in circulation. And the banknote with the nominal value of 100 thousand drams was put into circulation in 2009. Today Armenian dramatists also celebrate the day of bank workers. The banking system is one of the richest for workplaces.

The Central Bank has put into circulation on the occasion of Dram Day 2017 banknotes with nominal value of 500 drams issued by "Noyan Tapan". This is the first banknote of the 3rd generation, the others- with nominal value of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000 and 50000 drams, will be released in 2018.
