"Armenia today is experiencing a revival of wine," Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said in his speech at the opening of the International Wine Forum in Yerevan today.

"Preserving our traditions of winemaking, we combine them with modern advanced technology and scientific potential, hoping to receive high-quality wine. And by saying Armenian wine, we understand more than 6,000 years of history, traditions, culture, dedication and love to grape vine.

The government has recognized the sector as the priority sector of the economy. We have established the Armenian Vineyard and Winemaking Foundation to promote viticulture in the country, raise the country's winemaking rating and competitiveness in the international arena, increase export volumes and raise Armenia's attractiveness as a wine-making country. Our ultimate goal is, and we are confident that we will make Armenian wine a recognizable international brand, attract new investments in winemaking, increase wine export volumes, and have a solid and stable place on the world wine map.

I want to inform you that the trends are quite positive. In Armenia in 2016 about 7.5 million liters of wine was produced, which is 14% more than in 2015. We also have a good index of export, in 2016 more than $ 1.8 million liter of wine was exported, which is 37% higher than in 2015. My partners have informed that the analysis for 2017 is not over yet, but the dynamics are maintained and are also positive."

According to the head of the government, we have wine factories in Armenia with French, Italian, German technologies and equipment, and we have Argentinean, American, Swiss and Italian investments, and the Diaspora Armenian partners are a big part of the investors.

"It is also gratifying that we have an increase in domestic investments. This is a very important fact, as with the growth of domestic investment in the economy, we are convinced that we will have large foreign investments. Armenia is open for attracting large-scale investments in wine, viticulture and other sectors and we are ready to work with our partners to provide the best business environment for investors. And this forum for Armenia, I think, is a unique platform for discussing global trends and best practices of wine from different countries around the world, creating new relationships for the development of Armenian winemaking and to form mutually beneficial projects with our international partners, " according to the government's public relations department, Karen Karapetyan said.

The international wine forum was initiated by the Armenian Vineyard and Winemaking Foundation. It is held under the heading "World trends in wine and best practices. Conclusions and Recommendations for Armenia ". The purpose of the conference is to provide interested professionals and companies with an international platform to identify opportunities for sector development, investment attraction, professional capacity building, prospects for business and science.
