The regular sitting of the Governing Council for North-South Road Corridor, Sustainable Urban Development Investment and Northern Corridor Modernization Project was held today in the Government headed by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.

The results of the tender for the construction works for the construction of the Babajanyan-Ashtarak highway of the Western Bypass Road in Yerevan within the framework of Tranche 2 Sustainable Urban Development Investment Program were discussed. Nora Martirosyan, Deputy Director of "Yerevan Investment PIU" NGO, reported that 5 organizations filed an application within the deadline for participation in the competition, organized in accordance with Asian Development Bank procedures. Following the results of the evaluation committee summarizing, it was suggested to recognize Italian company Tirena Scavy as a winner with a bid for $ 32,943,648.15.

The council approved the results of the construction works tender for the construction of the Babajanyan-Ashtarak road section and approved the proposal to conclude a contract with the Tireena Scavy company.

Contracts will be signed in 2017 In December, the work will start in spring of 2018, taking into account the weather conditions. The duration of works is 24 months. The total length of the road is about 10 km and the average width - 24 meters. As a result of the construction, Babajanyan-Ashtarak highway will have at least 4 lanes, 3 tracks, 3 tunnel passages, LED lighting, barriers and markings corresponding to international standards. No infrastructures will be under the road.
