The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has launched a special training course for consultants in Yerevan on "Instruments used in Capital Markets for SME Financing" today and will last until December 8.

The purpose of the course is to provide professional training of financial advisors in Armenia, by providing them with the skills and best practices that small and medium-sized enterprises use in the capital and equity financing instruments available through which they will be able to diversify their funding sources and attract new investments.

It was developed and organized within the framework of the EBRD's Local Currency Loans Lending Program funded by the Japanese Government. The Japanese Government, through its cooperation with EBRD, supports the development of local capital markets, regulative reforms, capacities development programs, capital market tools development and market innovation tools, as well as expanding local and international institutional investors.

Japan's ambassador to Armenia, Hughes Tuckouchi, said during a meeting with journalists that Japan and Armenia have been cooperating effectively over the past 25 years, particularly after the establishment of diplomatic relations.

"So far, we have provided about $ 450 million to Armenia. The Japanese government has paid greater attention to the two major areas of disaster risk management and risk reduction, and we have had quite good cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, providing numerous firefighting measures. The second direction is socio-economic development in Armenia, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, "the ambassador said.

According to the ambassador, this training course will contribute to the more accurate understanding and development of capital markets in Armenia, as well as provide a sufficient operational environment for bringing relevant investments to Armenia.
