The increase in customs duties does not imply the rise in prices for goods, and such changes create additional opportunities for importing goods from EEU countries.
According to SRC Vice President Vakhtang Mirumyan, from now on individuals can import cars from third countries without any limitation.
Responding to journalists' questions, the SRC Deputy Chairman also touched upon the popular opinion that the prices for some goods will rise as the rates of customs duties increase.
"This conclusion is incorrect, there are some circumstances to consider. First, the increase in customs duties only applies to imports from third countries, and such changes make it possible for EEU member countries to import additional goods without customs duties. The next circumstance is that if imports from countries with which Armenia has a free trade agreement, it is evident that the increase in customs duties cannot have an impact on the price of these products, "he said. According to Mirumyan, the increase in customs duties will allow local producers to think about increasing their production volumes.
