"Rusatom Service" Company has completed the supply of the first two turbine generators for the ANPP. The transfer of the equipment from the St. Petersburg production plant took place in two stages: by the sea to Poti port (Georgia) and by a land transport to the Armenian NPP platform.

According to the press service of the company, the new aggregate will be installed instead of the former, which was prepared in the 70s of the last century. Auxiliary systems will also be replaced with the turbo-generator. The turbocharger is manufactured by the Russian "Power Machines", an energy company, which is among the world's top 10 leading manufacturers. According to the agreement signed in December, 2016, the "Power Machines" company should prepare two power generators with a nominal capacity of 236 MW for the NPP modernized power unit. The second turbine generator will be supplied to the Armenian NPP by December, 2018.

In December 2014, the Russian and Armenian governments signed an agreement on prolonging the term of operation of the 2nd Armenian unit of the Armenian NPP. In February 2015, a loan agreement was signed to extend the term of exploitation of the ANPP. In June 2015, the company "Rusatom Service" and the Armenian NPP signed a contract for the provision of services for the extension of the second power unit.
