Today, President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting with the country's socio-economic policy makers to discuss and summarize the results of the socio-economic sphere of Armenia шт 2017.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan, Head of the Presidential Staff Armen Gevorgyan, CB Chairman Artur Javadyan, Heads of Ministries responsible for Policy Development and Implementation of Social and Economic Spheres, President of the National Statistical Service and Presidential Staff.

The Prime Minister noted that the preliminary indicators presented in the analyzes will be compared with the annual indices published by the National Statistical Service, respectively, to make adjustments.

Within the framework of the agenda, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan, Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan and Minister of Finance Vardan Aramyan reported on the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia in 2017, general picture of economic growth and key results.

The President of Armenia stressed the importance of periodic analysis of economic and social outcomes for the development, adjustment and improvement of economic policy. The President drew the participants' attention to the inclusion of economic growth, stressing that the results of economic growth should be accessible to all layers of the society, and especially to socially vulnerable groups. In this regard, Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of consistent work to create favorable conditions for demographic indicators, as well as ensuring high rates of economic growth in the coming years.

"The basis of the analysis is, of course, operational information that we have received from our offices and our international partners. Obviously, when the National Statistical Service publishes the final figures, we will certainly incorporate our adjustments. The main purpose of the analysis or, as the Prime Minister likes to say, this exercise is to find out the components of economic growth, as they say, the engines of economic growth, since the components of growth determine what kind of income we will have. And naturally, taking into account both revenue and sustainability of these components, our future plans can be more accurate and more realistic.

I think that in the next few weeks we will complete the strategy of economic and social development of Armenia by 2030. Taking into account the fact that the government has achieved good results in 2017, I do not think that the deviations will be big, and we will have an economic growth of 7.4-7.7 %. This, of course, is a good indicator. But we also need to take into account that one-year good economic growth cannot have an impact on a wide range of our society. With this kind of growth for another two or three years, I think we can create very good bases for realizing our demographic programs, "said the President of the Republic of Armenia. The year has started with good economic indicators, however, according to him, we cannot say yet that Armenia has reached its possibility limits as long as the results of that work have not become significant for all the strata of the society.
