No significant changes in deposit interest rates are expected in the upcoming months, says Arman Barseghyan, Director of Retail Operations at Ameriabank Board of Directors.
"It is wrong to consider the interest rates on deposits and loans separately as any bank manages not the interest rates on loans and deposits, but the difference between them. The Bank, as a business, does not intend to provide credits at high interest rates or to take deposits, but to provide a reasonable margin to profit. In that case, when interest rates on loans are down, which was recorded last year, it is sensible to revise deposits' interest rates as well. Currently there is a tendency of stabilization of interest rates, which gives grounds to say that the interest rates on deposits will not change in the coming months, "Arman Barseghyan said.
According to him, last year the bank ensured 25% growth of retail time deposits and 40% increase in demand deposits.
