According to Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan, the state debt has stabilized due to tightening fiscal policy.
According to him, the state debt currently amounts to $ 6.8 billion, of which more than 4 billion is an external debt. "The level of total debt is 58.8 % of GDP, and there is some growth in the dynamics. This is the fiscal policy aimed at stabilizing the debt, "said Atom Janjughazyan.
Referring to the question of the external debt burden, he noted that if the state debt-GDP ratio is below 50 % it is estimated to be manageable, in Armenia it was 47.5% last year. "Next is the net current value of state debt - GDP ratio, in this respect the index was 40.9% in Armenia in 2017, which continues to classify Armenia as a country with a low debt burden", added the Minister.
