The Central Bank of Armenia improved the unemployment rate in 2018 from the previous 17.1% to 16.6% of the current year (with the old methodology).

In the medium term, the Central Bank expects an annual decrease of 0.2-0.3 percentage points of an unemployment rate up to 16%.

This is stated in the program of the third quarter of the Monetary Policy Guidelines of the Central Bank for 2018., published in late August, where the decline in unemployment is due to economic growth in 2018 by 5.6-6.9%, government policies aimed at stimulating investment and infrastructure reforms.

According to statistical data, the unemployment rate in Armenia was 18% in 2016 against 18.5% in 2015. The results of the Unemployment Rate for Quarter I of 2018 the Statistical Committee published in July, indicating both the old and new methodologies - 17.6% ( against 19% in the first quarter of 2017); according to the new methodology data- 20.6% (against 21.8% in the first quarter of 2017), while the unemployment rate for women was 19.8% and for men -21.2% . The new calculation methodology does not take into account the employment of households.
