The number of unemployed in the world as of 2017 has reached 201 million, having increased by 3.4 million compared to the previous year.

According to the International Labor Organization's "Employment in the World and Social Outlook-2017" report, the main reason is that investments are not enough. Firms do not invest in their employees, the activity is slowing down. And it generally affects the level of employment, worsening it.

The report highlights employment growth in small and medium-sized businesses. In the period of 2003-2016, the number of permanent employees of such enterprises has doubled. But that trend has stopped in the last two years.
