US President Donald Trump is discussing the issue not to raise customs duties on Chinese goods worth $ 200 billion by 10 %, which he said earlier, but by 25 %, said US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

"The possible increase in tariffs is aimed at providing the administration with additional tools that will make China change its destructive policies and behavior," the state official said.

For its part, China is ready to counteract the US. As Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Gen Shuan said, Beijing "will definitely take measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests."
