The Central Bank of Russia proposed to fix the right of Russians to temporarily suspend payments on mortgage loans, for example, in the event of loss of a workplace. This is stated in the report of the first deputy chairman of the financial regulator Sergey Shvetsov.
The official said that the Central Bank specialists studied the statistics according to which Russians under the age of 30–35 years began to change work more often “due to family circumstances” and often not at their own will.
There are circumstances that lead to the closure of enterprises, the dismissal of citizens, he added. A citizen, getting into such a situation, must ensure his existence during the period while he is looking for a new job. Therefore, the official said, in order for the Russian to live up to the moment it appears, it is necessary to include the option to suspend payments.
In this case, the individual must be able to unilaterally notify the bank that he temporarily suspends payments until the situation stabilizes.
He added that the innovation can be extended to other force majeure circumstances - accidents or illnesses that lead to temporary disability.
