Gottfried Leibrandt, general director of the international financial information transfer system SWIFT, announced his resignation. This is reported on the system website.

He plans to leave his post by 2019.

The reason for his resignation is not specified.

He has held the position of CEO at SWIFT since 2012, and in the SWIFT system since 2005.

“As CEO, Gottfried ensured SWIFT’s stable financial position, strengthened risk and security management functions in the system,” said Yavar Shah, chairman of the board of SWIFT.

The international financial information exchange system SWIFT allows banks and companies to exchange financial messages all over the world.
