The American clothing brand Guess was fined € 40 million for violating European Union competition rules. The decision was made by the European Commission.

The company is accused of imposing restrictions on its distribution contracts for retailers in the field of online sales and advertising.

The terms of the contracts allowed Guess to maintain artificially high retail prices for its products in EU countries.

In particular, in Central and Eastern Europe, the company's clothing turned out to be 5–10% more expensive than in Western.

The company helped investigate and admit the violations. The European Commission took this into account and halved the original amount of the fine.

Guess brand was founded in the 80s. last century. Worldwide, there are more than 1,000 company stores.
