Unemployment in Russia grew by 1.8% over the week. This was reported from the Ministry of Labor of Russia.

Labor market surveys show that as of December 19, 673.3 thousand people are unemployed. They are officially registered with the Ministry’s employment service.

The indicator for the same period last year was 756.1 thousand people.

According to the ministry, unemployment increased in 76 regions of Russia.

The largest increase in the number of unemployed in Sakhalin, Astrakhan and Voronezh. In Ingushetia, Magadan and Kaliningrad, the unemployment rate has not changed.

Earlier, the Financial Times quoted the Swiss bank UBS, saying that the world unemployment rate in September 2018 was 5.2%, which is 2.8 percentage points lower than in 2010.

It is also the lowest since 1980. UBS financial experts examined 48 developed and developing countries with a total contribution of 84% to global production.
