The European Commission has fined the international payment system Mastercard more than 570 million euros for abuse of a dominant position, the press service of the EC.
It is noted that the amount of the fine amounted to 570,566,000 euros.
“By not allowing retailers to use better terms offered by banks in other EU countries, Masterсard artificially increased card payment costs, causing damage to consumers and retailers in the EU,” said European Commissioner Margaret Vestager.
It should be noted that the European Commission launched an investigation in April 2013 against Mastercard.
